It’s most of us first time in Ilocos Norte. We had a four day road trip with my family and Louie’s family in Ilocos region. It’s beautiful though it’s extremely hot. Because We are Ilocanos and we speak their local dialect We felt at home instantly.
We spent most of the days in Ilocos Norte where the windmill is. Ilocos Norte was not so touristy as Ilocos Sur. Not yet.
We rented a Bungalow House for 2 nights so we can cook there as we are around 15 people in total.
5 minutes away from the house is a beautiful river where we went swimming every morning. It was so fun!
Heres list of things to do in Ilocos Norte:
1. Beach swimming and water sports
We drove to Hannas Beach took us about 40minutes. We did some water sports and swimming.
2. Kapurpurwan Rock Formatiom
This place was so scenic with its ocean view attraction.
3. Bangui Windmills
Bangui windmills is the source of electricity through out Ilocos region:)
4. Go up to Cape Bojeador Lighthouse
5. Museo Ilocos Norte
This museum is situated in an old mansion in Laoag City, the capital of Ilocos Norte. You can find some traditional hlusehold things and experience how they live the olden days. It quite fun especially for the kids who had it all these days. Before there are no electricity so people use manual fan, manual stove, everything was more more difficult and uncomfortable. Best way to teach kids gratitude.
6.Visit Ferdinand Marcos Presidential Center
7. Visit Paoay Church
Considered as UNESCO heritage site , this Roman catholic church was completed in 1710. This spanish colonial era church is also one of the four Baroque Churches of the Philippines with distinct cultural value.
8. Buy the famous pastry and bread
After Ilocos Norte we drove back to Ilocos Sur and visited Vigan City. Check my post here: Day Trip in Vigan City
